The scientific article is devoted to the study of the poetics of A. Artsishevsky's story ‘Brother’, considered in the context of the specificity of small narrative forms. The short story as a genre in recent decades is gaining special popularity in Kazakhstani Russian-language literature, which is due to its ability to compactly and expressively convey deep ideas and moods. The study focuses on the specifics of artistic embodiment, including unique elements reflecting the national and cultural context. The paper also considers the influence of psychologism on the development of characters and their interaction within the story. Thus, the article makes a significant contribution to the study of genre features of Kazakhstani prose and expands the ideas about the interaction of local and global literary traditions.
