LINGUISTIC APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF SOCIOCULTURAL VALUES IN THE CONTEXT OF CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of linguistic approaches used at the present stage in the study of sociocultural values. In order to identify the reasons for the actualization of axiological research, a diachronic analysis of the lexeme “values” is undertaken using the corpus linguistics tool - the online service Google Books Ngram Viewer. The obtained data testify to the objective interrelation between the frequency of use of the lexeme “values” and global and national historical processes. A number of directions of axiologically oriented linguistics are considered. An analytical review of the most significant and relevant approaches and concepts currently used for the study of the value component in language is presented on the basis of the research of domestic and foreign scientists. Some results of the development of axiological problems in linguistics are summarized and promising tasks of further linguo-axiological research are defined.
