TEXTUAL CRITICISM OF SHAKARIM’S POEMS (BASED ON SH. KORPEBAYEV’S MANUSCRIPT COPIES)

Abstract

This article presents a comparative textual analysis of several versions of Shakarim Kudaiberdiuly’s poems preserved in Sh. Korpebayev’s manuscript copies. It examines the printed and manuscript versions of “Boyauly
suyr,” “Elsiz qorağa ekinshi barğanda,” and “Ekinshi küni qonğanda,” which have not previously been subjected to dedicated textual analysis. These poems were selected to
demonstrate that Shakarim’s works from different periods of his career were preserved and transmitted within the manuscript tradition. “Boyauly suyr” belongs to the early
period of the poet’s career, whereas the other two poems were written in the final years of his life. The study employs comparative textual analysis, with the identified
textual variants classified as lexical, morphological, phonetic, and compositional changes. The sources include texts from the 1912 collection Qazaq ainasy, subsequent
academic editions, and manuscript materials preserved by Sh. Korpebayev. For the first time, the manuscript texts are subjected to dedicated comparative analysis.
