TURGAI NEWSPAPER AND KAZAKH FOLKLORE

This article examines the periodical Turgai newspaper, published in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as the main object of research. The newspaper was one of the few publications that played a significant role in preserving the literature and ethnographic heritage of the Kazakh people. The study analyzes the history of the newspaper’s publication, the individuals who oversaw its editorial work, and the folklore works published in its pages. In addition, new historical data on the periodical and fresh insights into the publication of Kazakh folklore samples are presented. The research applied methods of collection, description, and analysis of Kazakh folklore materials. This periodical is considered a relevant subject of study for Kazakh folklore scholarship. The article highlights the importance of conducting a deeper analysis of the publication.
