Abstract

The article examines inconsistencies and variation in the orthographic norms of compound words in the Kazakh language. The research is based on 54 lexical items, including names of animals, plants, and medical terms. Comparative, phonetic, and structural-morphological analysis methods were applied. The findings reveal that approximately 30% of the examined items display parallel spelling variants across orthographic sources. The inconsistent application of vowel combination patterns, vowel harmony, and the violation of morphological integrity are identified as the main causes of orthographic instability. The study highlights the necessity of systematizing the spelling of compound words in accordance with the natural phonetic and agglutinative structure of Kazakh.
