Modern science of education approached the moment when there was a need to create pedagogical technologies that provide the most important thing in the educational process - the development of the personality of each student, his activity. The main task in Kazakhstan's schools today is the formation of a harmoniously developed personality. The most important indicator of a well-rounded and harmoniously developed personality is the presence of highlevel thinking abilities. Based on this, the purpose of this article is a theoretical and practical consideration of the application of problem-based learning technology for the formation of sociolinguistic competence in foreign language lessons. The scientific and practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the article presents practical aspects of the use of problem-based learning technology, provides practical examples of tasks and exercises using problem-based learning technology in foreign language lessons for 9th grade students.
