Abstract

In the Azerbaijani language, which belongs to the agglutinative type of languages, there are different ways of word formation. The analytical word formation characteristic for it belongs to the syntactic way of word formation. Names formed in this way are considered compound or complex words. This article discusses the multicomponent nature of the formation of specific names related to the territory of Lachin. It examines the syntactic structure of geographical names, including the part-of-speech classification of components in basic word combinations. Another aspect that draws attention in the linguistic study of geographical names is the issue of the involvement of different parts of speech in their formation. Some parts of speech play an active role in the creation of toponyms and hydronyms, while others are more passive in this regard.
